I've been waiting for a special occasion to write up my favorite bar in Nashville and their two-year anniversary seemed like the perfect opportunity!
The only place to get an alcoholic beverage in the micro food hall known as the Wash, Bay 6 markets itself as an "Izakaya-ish" bar (ie the design is supposed to be small, intimate, casual but a great place for hanging out / having good times). It is all of those things and more. With a seasonally-updated menu arranged by flavor that comes with the most beautiful and very helpful hand-drawn pictures of drinks (and often funny, inventive names for drinks), Bay 6 makes it incredibly easy to choose a beverage you'll really want to enjoy. They make all of their syrups/cordials in house and everything tastes so FRESH here that it's made it hard for me to want to get a drink anywhere else. Bay 6 is known for inventive, bordering on Asian-influenced flavors and I've truly some of the most interesting drinks of my life here. My all-time favorite drink they make (the Jackie Daytona) involves ingredients I never would have thought belong in a drink (carrot cordial, fernet, Coca Cola), but is so perfectly balanced and flavorful, it just really showcases the skills of the bartenders here. One of my favorite things about this bar is the rotating specialty spirits it always has. I've tried some of the most interesting amaro's and love that they absolutely pay attention to all the unique notes of a spirit before designing a drink around that spirit. Such a great place to try and learn about something new!
If alcohol isn't your thing, this is also my favorite bar to get a non-alcoholic beverage, since it has such a wide range of tasty options including inventive mocktails, NA beer, my favorite NA amaro soda, local kombucha, or a bartender's choice mocktail. I spent almost a year not drinking and still really loved coming here because I always knew I had tasty options I could enjoy.
Lastly, it's hard not to talk about Bay 6 without mentioning how amazing the people who work here are. It's more than incredible service, the whole crew at Bay 6 makes this such a fun and welcoming atmosphere to hang out in. My favorite place to come read a book be have a drink and be alone OR my favorite place to come with a friend or my dog and chat with other patrons or the bartender: there is always just a pleasant, very chill atmosphere. You can sit inside and order food from another Wash eatery and have it brought to you at your seat or get a drink to go and eat on the patio. Bay 6 hosts lots of fun events with drink specials throughout the week, my favorite of which happens Tuesday nights when they cover the bar in drawing paper, provide a plethora of colored pencils and allow you to unleash your inner Bob Ross.
I am usually able to find parking on the street when I come here, but occasionally (during bad weather) splurge on the pretty cheap, closer paid options. My friends who live nearby also recommend parking across the street near the OTF lot.
Overall a total gem a hangout place and Nashville is so lucky to have Beau and team bringing such great flavors and execution to the drink scene here!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 28391229Nov 9, 2023
Bay 6 is a not-so-hidden gem tucked away inside The Wash on Gallatin. Parking in the neighborhoods surrounding is your best bet for free parking, but don't be a jerk and block someone's driveway.
It's described as an izakaya-ish experience, and I couldn't agree more. You can grab drinks and sit outside and enjoy a meal from any of the business at this location, or you can belly up to the bar and grab a drink there. (Highly recommended this option, especially if you're solo or on a nice date)
The bartenders are all great, seriously. Service is quick, they're very knowledgeable about the menu and you can tell that there's a lot of passion and cocktail/ingredient knowledge going into every drink.
This is such a great asset to the neighborhood and I can't wait to see it flourish even more.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jul 28, 2023
Great, tiny little bar. Seats maybe 12 people. LOVE how the menu is laid out by flavor profile. Tons of cocktail options, including frozen drinks. A few beer options. Great place if in the area for a meal.
Pro tip: you can have your food delivered here from the other places while you sit in the AC and drink your cocktail.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Emily S.San Francisco, CA075Apr 9, 2024
Small, cozy, cocktail bar that is so charming you'll want to come back again and again. Classic drinks, and creative twists on others. Kind of feels like you're stepping into a cool friend's living room/bar area. Get yourself a drink and a bite to eat at any of the lovely options around The Wash.

Bay 6 is an absolute gem in Nashville. Small and cozy, with such a cool energy when you walk in. There is attention to detail for everything from decor to the artfully styled menus. Right away I got a family vibe from the employees. Their bartenders Connor and Isabella really took the time to help me choose the perfect drink - because with so many awesome choices it's hard not to be indecisive! The wonderful Isabella mixed our drinks quickly and beautifully. I landed on the white elephant which was the perfect beverage after a long day. I also sipped on the space camp and another gator and can truly say that I don't think you can go wrong with any cocktail here. I also loved that I saw a handful of NA options when going through the menu, making this a place that truly has something for everyone.
Go try it for yourself and tip your bartenders!!!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 397706461Mar 11, 2023
Bay 6 is like putting on a warm sweater fresh out the dryer. It's cozy, it's comforting, it invokes feelings of happiness and contentment. It's major influence is the micro bars of Golden Gai in Tokyo. It has about 8 seats at the bar and another 7 or 8 at a small bartop behind it. The bartender cares a lot about her craft and plays around with off-the-beaten path spirits. I had a drink dubbed an apres-ski appletini. It was made with aquavit, bubbles, and a few other items with a mint leaf floater. It was tasty AF. I also had a skin contact wine which was a nice follow-up.
They offer draft cocktails, cocktails made on the spot, wine, and beer. They also have 4 small snacks (olives, white miso hummus, olive oil cake, and something else). If you can't fit inside, you can order a drink and sit on the patio of The Wash. The whole concept of The Wash is such a delight. We need more of them in Nashville. Full disclosure, as a 5'2" person, I appreciate small spaces. They are refreshing in a world that can be so big! I also like large places, but there is something about micro and minibars that make me feel at home. I can't wait to go back and see what she mixes up next. This is a place to watch!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jiuseppa M.The Pueblo, Las Vegas, NV017Dec 20, 2023
I wish I could leave more stars. This place is so well thought out from the ingredients in each cocktail to the great staff and cozy ambiance. This is my go to spot in the neighborhood. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Such a great find in this spot. Very chill and easy to order a good drink and connect with friends or perfect strangers. Also a great compliment to the neighboring restaurants. One of my favorite places.
