“The high quality of the playing and extensive nature of the solos as well each pieces compositional development come as no surprise.”- Ron Wynn, Nashville Scene

“a versatile, risk-taking progressive jazz drummer…”
-Jonathan Widran, JAZZIZ

It is truly progressive and fundamentally jazzand a reason to be excited about the continuing evolution of jazz in Music City. Sean Maloney, Nashville Scene

Her new album Secrets of the Shore is fantastic and lush – in the vein of. Miles with Gil Evans or Maria Schneider. Complex but not out there or overly dissonant. The horn charts are just gorgeous. But live, oh wow I was floored. I don’t know where she found these young hotshots, but man the talent in this town is crazy.- Craig Havighurst, award-winning music journalist.

Analog at Hutton Hotel

Blue Balloon Songwriting School has been around for 15 years in NYC and since 2017 in Nashville. We have had our annual young songwriters showcases at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, and the City Winery in Manhattan. This is our first time presenting our young songwriters at Analog at the Hutton Hotel. Our concerts are open to the public, draw a wonderful crowd, and have been listed in the NY Times many times and featured in Time Out NY Kids. We pride ourselves on putting on a real show for these kids who are as little as 4 years old, so they have the experience of playing in front of a live audience, plugged in onstage. Our students will have the opportunity to perform their amazingly beautiful and original songs as well as songs they’ve worked hard to learn on their instruments all year.

ABOUT LORE

LORE is born of stories and coincidences that converge in an undeniable way that can only be fate. Laura Reed and Laur Joamets came together as if it was out of their hands as if breadcrumbs had been laid out for them to follow and honor the songs they created together. Drawing from many different paths, experiences, and influences the music is an authentic testament to what happens when you combine diverse elements and get something new and fresh.

Laura, originally from South Africa, made her way to the United States as a child and eventually found herself making music in Nashville, her fathers birthplace. She had cut her songwriting and recording teeth collaborating with George Clinton and PFunk and various musicians from New Orleans and Asheville at the age of 21. She toured in various bands, and eventually carved out a solo career that took her around the world and the US, and caught the attention of country music icon Paul Worley (Dixie Chicks/Lady Antebellum).

Worley invited Laura to stay with him and his family in Nashville and introduced her to various collaborators, such as Shannon Sanders (Robert Randolph/Johnny Lang), who helped her secure her place as an independent writer and performer, securing multiple licensing spots and large festivals and tours. In the summer of 2019, fate brought her to the steps of Sputnik Sound to record a new solo project with Vance Powell (Jack White/Chris Stapleton) and Dave Schools (Widespread Panic/Hard Working Americans). She had a handful of songs ready to go, but still needed a guitarist.

Laurs story started on the other side of the world, in Estonia. It was here he studied classical music and fell in love with American roots & blues and all things Rock n Roll. He eventually followed the opportunity to Nashville. Laur found himself on the road and in the studio with Sturgill Simpson, after a recommendation by acclaimed producer Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlisle/Chris Stapleton). Cobb had heard the unique quality in Laurs guitar playing due to Rival Sons drummer Michael Miley recommending him as a potential guitarist for Sturgill. Miley had married an Estonian woman, and discovered Joamets, as he was already garnering attention in his home country as a formidable musical force.

It was after a few years of playing guitar with Sturgill that Laur caught the attention of the Southern Rock outfit, Drivin n Cryin. He joined the band in 2017 & began touring with DNC across the US and Europe. In the summer of 2019, he embarked on his first instrumental record, comprised of songs he had been masterfully composing over several years. He brought the music to Sputnik to be mixed by Vance Powell and was just about ready to put it out into the world when he decided he needed a singer.

Laura had made a public post on Facebook indicating she was looking for a guitarist for a new project. A friend passed this post along to Laur and implored him to check her out. Laur was impressed after hearing Lauras soulful vocals and decided to reach out. He joined her at Sputnik that summer to play guitar on the session for her solo EP, whilst working on his solo instrumental album. The two found instant musical chemistry and began writing together and booking local shows around Nashville.

Before long it was hard to distinguish which songs were Lauras and which songs were Laurs. It naturally progressed into an organic collaboration. As soon as 2020 began Laura went back to Sputnik to alter Laurs instrumental album, singing on all but 1 song. The duo stripped the songs down to a guitar in her living room and crafted the arrangements and lyrics. By February of 2020, they decided to join forces and combine their projects into one.

This is where LORE thrives. In the space where ego melts away and collaboration pushes forth to honor the songs. Some things cant be forced, and also cant be stopped. The story begins here.

ABOUT CHANNING WILSON

Channing, a singer-songwriter hailing from a small town in Northwest Georgia, captures the essence of American life, both its joys and struggles, through his evocative music. His songs such as “Poor Man’s Cocaine” expose the bleak realities of methamphetamine’s grip on rural America, while “Black Jesus” narrates the unlikely friendship between two men across generational and racial divides, showcasing his ability to confront and weave complex social themes into his lyrics. Despite not coming from a musical backgroundwith his mother being more of a hard worker than a singerChannings late start in music at the age of 17 did not deter his deep-seated passion. His discovery of his mother’s poetry inspired him to start writing and playing guitar, setting him on a path that would eventually lead him to the heart of Nashville’s music scene.

By the age of 25, Channing had dropped out of college and cycled through numerous jobs, driven by a belief that life had more to offer than the conventional 9-to-5. His musical journey took a serious turn when he sold personal belongings to fund trips to Nashville, where his talents were eventually recognized by EMI Music Publishing. Working alongside musical legends like Guy Clark shaped not only his songwriting and musicianship but also his personal growth. His music has since gained recognition in the country music industry, leading to collaborations with artists such as Tyler Farr and Luke Combs, and securing deals with influential labels like Warner Chappell and Low Country Sound. Channing’s journey from a rough upbringing to sharing stages with icons of the country genre underlines his deep commitment to his craft and the authenticity that resonates in his music.

Savanna Leigh with Special Guests

Savanna Leigh with Special Guests

Analog at Hutton Hotel

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Savanna Leigh perfects her singularly vulnerable yet empowered, relatable voice. on her upcoming EP “reminders of you” set to release on Aug 20. The 23-year-olds songcraft and lyricism resonate among her peers and beyond, peeling back the complex, sometimes uncomfortable layers of outgrowing relationships and past versions of yourself.

Savanna grew up in Florida around creatives who were making a living from music, which encouraged her that becoming a full-time artist was a viable ambition. Originally inspired by mainstream country, she wrote her first song at age 12, exhibiting passion and talent that would eventually take her to Nashville on a music scholarship.

After performing in a country-pop duo with her sister, Savanna went solo. Initially exploring glossy pop, she has honed her expression and gathered like-minded collaborators for a more authentic and organic, stripped-back sound on the deeply personal EP.

Savanna bares her storytelling soul and is unafraid to have minimal instrumentation adorning her glacial, uniquely emotive vocals. This time her original country influences and Nashville surroundings make themselves felt, yet the power of Savannas innate pop sensibilities, way with words, and respect for hooks remains. The result is a best-of-both-worlds mlange of honest, profound expression and easy everyday accessibility.

Acoustic guitar and strings-based first single mason street is a song that Savanna had to write alone, as it touches upon personal topics that she was actively experiencing at the time: romanticizing emotionally simpler times back in Florida while wrestling with acceptance of her new self. “I felt so broken down mentally while writing that song. I barely recognized myself, she recalls. Everything Id been pushing away, emotionally, was catching up to me.”
