TSG helped sculpt the public campaign to convince Major League Soccer to choose Nashville out of a group of 12 cities for an expansion club in 2017. Subsequently, we helped lead the team in a successful campaign for a new state-of-the-art soccer stadium at the Fairgrounds Nashville. During construction of the stadium, we managed outreach and communications efforts to ensure strong community support for the stadium and team. All of these different stages required extensive audience mapping, broad community engagement to ensure a diverse group of people were involved, and utilization of multiple tools such as websites, social media, neighborhood meetings, large-scale community meetings and polling. The results were successful and laid the groundwork for Nashville Soccer Club to have the positive community relationship they enjoy today.

Airbnb hired TSG to help deepen their involvement locally and statewide around a host of issues, including advancing housing affordability efforts, small business and neighborhood stewardship, public safety efforts, philanthropic guidance, and more. We do this in two ways. First, we provide strategic communications and media relations counsel to support these causes and to tell the story of Airbnb’s considerable positive impact on local economies. Second, we help identify and cultivate partnerships with nonprofits and organizations ranging from Habitat for Humanity and the Tree Foundation, to Thistle Farms and The Cumberland River Compact, to the Tennessee Environmental Council and the local food and farming movement. This includes creating materials that help the local Airbnb Host community engage with neighbors, such as the “Eat Like a Local” restaurant guide produced in partnership with Edible Nashville.

Imagine Nashville

Imagine Nashville is a community-led visioning initiative unlike any the city has seen. Its goal is to identify shared values and priorities and to develop a clear, actionable roadmap for Nashville that will guide policymakers, private philanthropy, businesses and more over the next decade and beyond. Phase I included attitudinal research to help identify the shared values that will help us to set key priorities and, ultimately, collective action items. Through this work, more than 10,000 Nashvilians weighed in over 100 days in an unprecedented community engagement effort. TSG has played a leading role in this effort from its inception, providing strategic counsel to the original workgroup and early planning teams, supporting the fundraising work, overseeing the research effort, and helping to plan and implement the final community engagement efforts.

A.J. Capital & Belle Meade Plaza

When Adventurous Journeys (A.J. Capital) set out to purchase and redevelop the 10-acre property at the corner of Harding Road and White Bridge Road called Belle Meade Plaza, they knew the community response to their plans would be complicated and challenging. They would need a rezoning approved by Metro Planning and ultimately Metro Council to have the flexibility needed to develop a top tier mixed-use development that would complement the surrounding community. A.J. hired TSG to manage the community engagement, stakeholder communications and rapid-response efforts required to win, which they did. We were proud to help A.J. achieve a unanimous yes vote in Planning and the ultimate approval of Metro Council.
